This project will deliver the capabilities that are critical to support NYC schools current and future computing needs.
These capabilities will enable enterprise wide mobility and secure wireless access to NYCDOE stakeholders including students, teachers, administrators, partners and schools community. The capabilities will constitute the platform for school wide Next Generation learning services including:
School bandwidth management
School Device enablement
Student and teacher BYOD
Roaming and Mobile Users
Central administrative wireless
Online learning
School community access
We require a Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) and mobility expert architect to bring the necessary technical leadership skillset for the successful execution of the initiative.

* Architect, design and deploy end:to:end Enterprise network mobility solutions integrating several systems and components including wireless clients, wireless Access Points, controllers, switches, firewalls, network appliances, captive portals, access management systems, application servers and directory databases
* Lead the design and implementation of the next generation wireless and mobility solution.
* Develop and maintain NYCDOEs wireless technology and mobility roadmap
* Lead the development of NYCDOE Next Generation Mobility standards
* Leverage broad knowledge of technology solutions from leading wireless and mobility vendors including Aruba Networks, Aerohive networks and Cisco systems
* Utilize extensive working knowledge with wireless protocols including 802.11ac, 802.11n, 802.11a/b/g, 802.11i, dot1x and 802.11 extensions protocols to develop NYCDOE wireless and mobility standards.
* Design school campus wireless network infrastructure based on 802.11n and 802.11ac protocols.
* Leverage extensive working knowledge of wireless security authentication and encryption protocols including PEAP, EAP:TLS, WPA, TKIP, AES, PSK, WEP, etc. to develop secure wireless networking solutions.
* Perform wireless LAN planning, configuration, and management using wireless controllers and systems tools
* Advise the design, deployment and management efforts of large scale wireless network management platform using Arubas Airwave WNMS.
* Leverage extensive experience to perform design, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of Aruba wireless LAN controllers (7000 and 7200 series) and Access Points (200,210 and 220 series)
* Integrate large scale wireless access management system with enterprise Public Key Infrastructure
* Perform extensive configuration, testing and troubleshooting of Aruba ClearPass access management system
* Perform extensive testing and troubleshooting of device onboarding, guest access and various wireless AAA authentications across a wide range of client operating systems and models.
* Test and troubleshoot wireless connectivity for end user media devices like Apple TV and Google Chromecast.
* Lead design, configuration, testing and troubleshooting of Cisco wireless LAN controllers (4400 and 5500 series) and Access Points (1210 IOS, 1242, 1262, 3600 and 3700 LWAPP)
* Conducts troubleshooting of various wireless clients including laptops, printers, tablets and other Wi:Fi devices. This includes working with wireless adapters utilities, drivers and configuration procedures for Windows and MAC OSX, Apple iOS, ChromeOS, Android and other operating systems.
* Perform as a level 4 senior wireless network expert to troubleshoot and resolve wireless network support and end user wireless escalations from NYCDOEs Network Operations Center.
* Support wireless integration teams
