WeCARE is an internationally acclaimed workforce development program founded and administered by the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA). WeCARE provides a continuum of integrated services designed to help public assistance recipients overcome barriers to employment and to become more financially self:sufficient. The program services include medical, mental health, and substance abuse assessments and referrals; case management; comprehensive service planning; vocational evaluations; federal disability program application preparation and submission; work readiness and computer skills training; academic and vocational education referrals; work experience internship placement and monitoring; and job placement and retention services.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Employment Services Supervisor, the Job Developer is responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining relationships with employers to create unsubsidized employment opportunities for WeCARE clients.
Essential Functions
Conduct a minimum of 25 cold calls each day to employers with the express purpose of identifying businesses that are currently hiring in addition to follow up calls to employers and Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) customers
Secure a minimum of 14 unsubsidized placements, including but not limited to part and/ or full time employment of 20 hours a week or more, making approved minimum wage by providing at least 25 interview referrals on a weekly basis
Conduct a minimum of 2:3 field visits on a bi:weekly basis to ensure that all businesses are well versed in the methodologies of the WeCARE program and receive VRS employment services brochure
Regularly review local newspapers and websites to remain abreast of local job fairs and employer open houses, referring all qualified participants.
Possess a comprehensive job bank and/ or the ability to leverage relationships to meet the needs of the WeCARE client base
Meet and understand the skills of VRS customers to identify barriers to employment, as well as how to best present them to employers
Produce weekly reports containing records of cold calls and field visits completed.
Conduct daily follow up with employers to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and next steps
Design and create recruitment strategies, job fairs, on site employer visits, meet the manager days, and cyber info sessions for internet job search companies that operate and screen through automated methods
Enter case notes for all VRS consumer services provided in NYCWAY and AllSector in addition to posting the appropriate codes
Announce job leads weekly in workshops and work closely with Work Readiness Instructors on follow:ups with consumers referred to interviews
Assist Retention Unit to ensure all employment data is accurate, verified, and the proper codes are updated in NYCWAY and AllSector
