This position will analyze proposed software/system compatibility by testing and documenting results including providing solutions to software incompatibilities. Develop, write and implement scripts.Participate in capacity management activities, including, but not limited to, forecasting, analysis, purchasing recommendations, and problem solving.Administer a mid:size site alone and assists in administration of a larger site. Evaluate and/or recommend purchases. Serve as the first line of defense against intrusion and inadvertent system damage by monitoring and engaging in preventative maintenance of system.Required Education :BachelorA?s Degree in Information and Technology or related fieldRequired Experience :Linux Specialist with a minimum 3 years of experience. Experience with application infrastructures in Linux, and Storage platforms.Ability to define, document, and clearly communicate overall architecture / engineering considerations. Ability to work in a dynamic, multi:vendor environment. Strong inter:personal and communication skills: capable of training users in complex topics, making presentations to internal groups. Able to write intricate system and user documentation. Capable of writing and explaining purchase justifications.Very comfortable with most aspects of the Linux operating system: paging/swapping, inter:process communication, devices and device driver fundamentals, file system concepts like inode and superblock.Familiar with fundamental networking/distributed computing environments and concepts. Ability to configure NFS and NIS, use dns lookup to check information in the DNS.Ability to write detailed scripts in at least one, preferably two administrative languages.Ability to perform debugging and modification of C programs.Experience with Red Hat and NetApp is preferred.EOE/AA/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity
