This role will develop and manage the West Elm Photo Studio and other ongoing projects that support new business initiatives and brand expansion. This person will oversee a team that produces all content (photo + video) for west elm. A strong cross:functional partnership with our warehouse and merchandising teams are key to photo studio success and will stem from this role. The Photo Studio Manager will provide vital day to day support to the associate population located at the studio; this includes growth and development as well as photo studio operations such as processes including managing headcount assigned to projects as well as software and systems required to work efficiently. As west elm continues to see growth as a brand, content production is a large focus. We have expanded into new areas such as video, while continuing to support the demand of our still asset needs for all channels.
* Manage all aspects of photo studio operations and continue to refine the process.
* Manage and oversee direct reports, including Photo Sample Coordinator and Producers; the producers direct reports will include lead merchandise coordinators, merchandise coordinators, as well as a pool of temporary associates who may be called to set for large scale projects.
* Manage scheduling of all sets.
* Work with Director to determine and maintain seasonal budget.
* Manage, organize, purge, and maintain photo equipment and prop inventory.
* Oversee general photo studio maintenance and partner with Facilities lead to ensure building maintenance is resolved.
* Handles all shipping, receiving, and reception of photo studio.
* Arrange for Messengers and safe transport when needed for anyone at the studio.
* Partner with direct reports and warehouse staff in the use of sample management system to track sample availability against the daily/weekly shot list, to identify sample issues and reschedule shots as needed.
* Ability to anticipate and manage set production needs when they arise, such as coordinating set building needs.
* Be a visionary to how the photo space will evolve overtime given the brand and shot count growth.
* 5:7 years photo producer experience preferably with digital photography.
* Experience managing large photography production studio while working with photographers and other production staff.
* Understanding of post:production software, hardware and development process.
* Must possess an in:depth understanding of the digital photographic process and server:based workflow.
* Superior scheduling skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external teams.
* Strong interpersonal and management skills.
* Ability to multi:task and be highly organized.
* Previous full cycle management experience required :: recruitment and selection, growth and development, performance management in conjunction with HR partner
