Senior Application DeveloperSalary: up to $115,000 Commensurate with Experience Excellent Benefits PackageBrooklyn, NY DoITT provides for the sustained, efficient and effective delivery of IT services, infrastructure and telecommunications to enhance service delivery to New York City's residents, businesses, employees and visitors. As the City's technology leader, DoITT is responsible for maintaining the foundational IT infrastructure and systems that touch every aspect of City life from public safety to human services, from education to economic development crossing the full spectrum of governmental operations.Job Description:Design the technical solutions, including integration specifications for enterprise web applications;Maintain and support existing pre-built applications/packages, interfaces and custom configurations;Develop new and maintain existing ETL jobs, database triggers, scripts and stored procedures;Write code using OO techniques, design patterns, industry best practices and DoITT development standards;Create technical documentation including technical design and security accreditation document;Assist in evaluating open source libraries and frameworks and make recommendations;Maintain existing applications and systems;Participate in requirement discussions and meetings and provide estimates;Provide technical expertise, estimates, and recommendations to development lead and project management;Work with Development Leads and Project;Managers to help determine timelines and project tasks;Ensure that the support staff have all the proper information for deployment and support;Support QA in troubleshooting and resolving defects;Mentor junior developers and aid in their career growth.Preferred Skills:8+ years of development experience with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in developing web applications using Java/.NET/PHP/Python;Strong experience in Spring/Struts;Framework and Hibernate ORM including an understanding of Annotations;Experience working with cloud computing service providers such as AWS or Microsoft Azure;Experience working with PaaS, SaaS and IaaS;Experience with any relational database such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL;Experience with any application server such as IIS, JBoss, Tomcat or Oracle WebLogic server;Experience with AJAX, HTML 5, CSS and JavaScript along with frameworks such as JQuery;Knowledge of Test Driven Development and experience in writing Unit Testing;Experience in architecting high performance large web applications;Strong knowledge of web services technologies/concepts such as SOAP, REST, WSDL, XML, JSON;Proficient in UNIX shell scripting;Knowledge of continuous integration servers such as Jenkins or Hudson;Knowledge of IT automation tools such as Chef or Puppet;Experience using various development tools such as Eclipse and Git/CVS/ Subversion/;Ability to work in cross functional teams to provide the best solution;Proven background in the development and deployment of complex operational systems;Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skill;Should be autonomous and think creatively;Should be collaborative and have good interpersonal skills;Knowledge of Python, PHP or Mobile Development.
