They will also make entries in a computer based system and responses are expected quicklyExcel - all reporting is in Excel, all budgeting work they do is in ExcelComfortable with PM artifacts - the organization tries hard to keep documents current due to frequent auditsMS Sharepoint - this person may get involved in another project where they establish a new PM system where Sharepoint is used primarily for managing content that goes on a public websiteResponsibilities:While reporting to the Application Development Directors, the Senior Project Manager will assist with IT Software Development internal and administrative operations and will have the following responsibilities:* Manages the design, planning, development and implementation of new or enhancement information technology projects or programs from inception to implementation.* Assembles, directs and oversees project teams, vendors, and other technology groups in an effort to identify appropriate project resources and objectives.* Develops and monitors schedules to ensure that projects are completed within established deadlines.* Directs and oversees the Project Management Life Cycle (PMLC) which encompasses the planning, organizing and managing of resources to bring about the successful completion of specific projects goals and objectives. This includes developing detailed project plans, establishing milestones and defining the resources required.* Gathering business requirement and participate in design and implementation activities for these projects.* Assembles, directs and oversees project teams, vendors, and other technology groups in an effort to identify appropriate project resources and objectives. Develops and monitors schedules to ensure that projects are completed within established deadlines.* Manages the integration of project activities and information across project teams and advises monitors and oversees system analysis, design, configuration and deployment of solution components.* Communicates with internal and external parties on project status, and prepares reports for management review.* Performs project assessment, critical path, dependencies and impact analysis and presents escalated issues and recommendations to executive management.* Identifies, categorizes, mitigates, resolves and/or reports project issues. Meets regularly with other related areas to ensure that integration issues are identified and resolved. Tracks and maintains detailed issues and risks lists, and prepares appropriate project meeting minutes and status reports.Qualifications:* Minimum of a BS in Engineering or Computer Science, ideally with an MBA.* Strong operational experience: ideally has worked in a senior management role for 8+ years in at least three years of experience in operational/administrative management.* Demonstrated experience in process analysis and process re-engineering.* Demonstrated experience in having successfully managed an application support / production support organization.* Knowledge of COBIT or ITIL is desirable.* Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis with previous experience overseeing human resources, information technology, and legal.* Skills should include organizational development, personnel management, budget and resource development, and strategic planning; demonstrated success developing and monitoring systems to manage both operational and programmatic work that involve high levels of collaboration.* Excellent people skills with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team.* Flexible and able to multi-task; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving towards clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems.Preferred:* Familiarity with, and understanding of, the Common Core Learning Standards adopted by the New York State Education Department* Experience with Web Content Management Systems with specific emphasis on Microsoft's CMS.* Must possess strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility and sound business judgment.* Must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively, both verbally and written.* A clear vision of current and emerging trends in technology.* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, effective planning and problem-solving abilities and strong technical expertise.* Knowledge of instructional design and project management concepts as well as experience in the actual development and implementation of systemsProject Management, MS Office Suite
