Director of Education/Lead Teacher Our beautiful Pre-School in Williamsburg maximizes the independence of our children. The brand new space is an open layout with stunning materials, access to a garden and a dance studio. At c'e Montessori we prepare the child to transform his world, without prejudice to what that world will be, which child will transform it or how it needs to be transformed. We respect the potential of the child and the fundamentals of our ideas enough to ignore the realities of this world long enough to allow our students to imagine it different. You will be responsible for leading, directing, developing and managing the School. Your job is teacher and student focused but you will also be one of the primary faces and shapers of the school to the parents and community. You will work closely with the head of school to develop systems and procedures for the new campus in Williamsburg. You must be an expert in school administration, operations, and curriculum and must have extensive knowledge of the Montessori method and classroom experience. Education and Experience: Must have: - A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. - State Certified in Early Childhood Education - Extensive knowledge of the Montessori Method - AMI/AMS Credential in Early Childhood - 3-5 years experience in preschool administration, Montessori administration is a plus - Great organizational, computer, and administrative skills RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the hiring of teachers and assistants, and ensure that an effective teaching team is created and maintained Teach in our 2-6 Montessori classroom. Establish and maintain a Montessori learning culture Set and promote educational standards and expectations for all students and staff according to the school's philosophy. Supervise programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes (teaching, as duties allow) on a regular basis to encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development. Manage, evaluate and supervise schools methodologies functioning according to the philosophy, mission, values and goals of the school Build opportunities and programs for teachers' professional development Establish procedures for evaluation and selection of instructional materials and equipment, approving all recommendations.
