POSITION DETAILS

Brooklyn College is accepting applications for the position of Financial Aid Director.

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President for Budget and Planning and Chief Financial Officer at Brooklyn College, the Financial Aid Director is responsible for the overall direction of the College's comprehensive financial aid program and managing the day-to-day functions performed in the Financial Aid Office. He/She is responsible for planning, implementing, and directing all financial aid services and functions in accordance with applicable College/University policies and procedures and all federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Plan, direct, and administer a comprehensive financial aid program which includes the administration of federal, state, and local grants as well as loans and other types of financial assistance.

* Direct student financial aid processes, providing overall leadership, management, evaluation andstrategic vision to the Financial Aid Office.

* Oversee the effective management of student financial assistance, ensuring the timely delivery offinancial aid information to students utilizing the full range of communication and technology toolsavailable.

* Direct strategic planning of office initiatives, implementing best practice strategies to streamlineworkflows and improve office efficiency and customer service delivery.

* Collaborate with other directors, faculty and staff throughout the college to support student engagement, improve customer service and increase student success.

* Oversee the development of regular and ad-hoc reports to be used for required internal and external reporting purposes.

* Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned professional and administrative staff.

* Maintain a thorough knowledge of all policies, procedures, and regulations relating to federal, state,and local financial aid programs including PELL, TAP, Stafford Loan, Perkins Loan, and College WorkStudy programs.

* Develop and manage internal and external communication systems, mechanisms, and literature usedto inform students about financial aid policies and procedures.

* Represent the College in the University Council of Financial Aid Officers and serve as the College'sliaison with University financial aid personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and eight years' related experience required.

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Develops and oversees student financial aid programs in accordance with Federal/State laws and regulations and University guidelines.

* Develops and interprets financial aid policies and procedures with regard to Federal and NY State programs such as internal loan programs, all state and federal loan programs, Stafford Loans, Perkins Loans, College Work Study, and Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

* Reports on general and fiscal matters such as program expenditures, projections of full-year spending potential, and analyses of spending patterns

* Authorizes the disbursement of funds

* Monitors compliance with Federal and State financial aid regulations, developing and implementing compliance procedures

* Serves as College liaison to Federal, State, local and professional agencies on financial aid matters

* Assures that the Financial Aid function works effectively with other College units (e.g., Admissions, Registrar, Bursar)

* Manages financial aid staffing, development, and evaluation

* Performs related duties as assigned.
