Tough as Vinyl – Quiet As Cork: Fusion Cork Flooring

Vinyl plank flooring is the top selling flooring material in North America. It comes in many shapes and styles. As tough as it is, it has one major drawback: noise. Condo owners and apartment dwellers are finding it increasingly frustrating to work with vinyl as they are unable to find appropriate acoustic underlay that works with both the vinyl and the HOA board’s requirements.

Enter Forna’s Fusion Vinyl-Cork flooring product. It is as though as vinyl with the acoustic benefits of cork. The Fusion Vinyl-Cork has the added benefit of being allowed EXTRA THICK acoustic underlay. In fact, it allows up to 12mm cork underlayment to be used underneath. This is unheard of with traditional vinyl planked flooring. A few of the industry leaders allow 3mm cork underlay under their vinyl – and that’s the maximum.

At Forna, we are cork specialists. We know that 3mm cork underlay is not rated for multifamily units. It is “nice” but not good enough to satisfy an HOA board. Fusion Vinyl-Cork planks, at 10.5mm thick, are designed for use with thick underlay. There is no need to worry about approval from the condo board or from the manufacturer. We’ve already checked!
